Comparing dirty DE grids to clean one’s. Recommended cleaning interval: 6 months.
These DE grids are ripped on the inside. When they are in this condition, the dirt and debris that would normally be caught in your filter ends up right back in the pool.
This DE filter was not cleaned for over a year when Wild Coyote Pool Service took over maintaining this pool.
You can see the broken plastic frame near the top of each grid. This DE filter assembly needs to be replaced.

Even with pool service, it is a good idea to empty full skimmer baskets after a heavy monsoon storm. This basket broke from the weight of all the leaves.
A clogged Jandy valve. No the most obvious reason for a pump not priming, but we took care of the problem.
Here is a leaking pump housing. You can see water squirting near the back.
Wild Coyote Pool Service replaced the old pump with a new Hayward Super 2.
This is a attempt at sealing a cracked manifold collector with glue and tape. This will NOT work under the pressure of a pool motor. Wild Coyote Pool Service replaced the manifold and the pool is looking great again.
The reason for posting multiple pictures of cracked manifolds is to show how easy they can be ruined due to lack of proper maintenance. Confucius says: Pool owner who has filters cleaned on regular basis is very happy pool owner.
A tiny crack on this pump lid was causing pump to lose it’s prime.
The pipe on the top of this pump was leaking, wasting water and letting air into the system.
An old, worn out pump lid O-ring can also let air into the pump, causing it to lose prime.
A cracked leaf catcher can let debris into the motor and pump.
